Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is a great addition for fans of the world of The Legend of Zelda – INDIAN

The long history of the Kingdom of Hyrule is so complex, full of epic battles, legendary heroes and ancient races, that exploring it, especially in the last two installments of The Legend of Zelda series, gradually raised more questions than it answered. Suddenly some Zonai appear, Ganondorf waged war, and Princess Zelda, who found herself in the past, had to fight him. Breath of the Wild, and especially last year’s Tears of the Kingdom, expanded the story of this world in almost every direction imaginable. Zelda’s history in the past plays a rather important role for Link in the present. But we were only able to see him through a series of flashbacks. This has now been fixed in the latest installment of the fighting spin-off Hyrule Warriors. Proposals for imprisonment age canonical preview to the event known as the War of Imprisonment and the larger context of how Zelda and her allies saved Hyrule.

That’s about all I can say about this story specifically. You can find out the whole story and the most key events from Tears of the Kingdom. So the story in this game mainly serves to explain some of the inconsistencies and to explore things a little bit. So while it’s canon, I wouldn’t consider the plot of this game to be important to most players. Mainly because there are no big reveals or plot twists at all, and the new characters, with a few exceptions, seem more like quota fillers.

What quotas? Well, gameplay. Because that’s what Hyrule Warriors is about. About how to take swords, spears and other weapons and go kill not tens, not hundreds, but thousands and tens of thousands of bokoblins, Zonai constructs, linells, lizalfs, moblins, pebbles, taulus, hinoxes, glicks… Well, just everything we know from the main series. Hyrule Warriors, if you’re not aware, mixes the reality of The Legend of Zelda with the relatively famous gameplay of the Dynasty Warriors series. Tactics have nothing to do with it – we are simply talking about the destruction of all this.

At the same time, you can achieve this through the various characters that the game introduces you to. Zelda and a number of her allies will become playable characters with their own combos and abilities. The familiar princess controls light and time, King Rauru with his spear surpasses more area attacks and of course there will also be strong hits or ranged attacks. While on paper I would consider this to be a strong point of the game, I have to say that these characters were introduced a little too quickly for my liking. Before I had time to really get comfortable with one, two more were unlocked for me, for which I had to play half the game time. And given their number, I realized that over time they are no longer so important. In the final, each of them is able to defeat any opponent. Although a little different, but still. It often happens that the game will reveal three characters you play as almost identical, only one has lightning attacks and the other has fire attacks. I’d rather have a smaller repertoire of characters that I’d like to create a stronger connection with, both from a story and gameplay standpoint.

You can improve your characters individually. Gradually you will unlock more combinations, stronger attacks or several other special abilities for them. Likewise, you can constantly improve your weapons. Due to the number of characters, I simply didn’t care who I played as in the finale. I just updated and unlocked everything differently without paying much attention to it. I thought it was a shame. The game does offer the ability to change characters frequently and gives you the ability to choose who you send into battle; but since none of the characters were “mine,” I didn’t care. This became more and more obvious as time went on and new features and mechanics were gradually revealed. This was most obvious in the case of the ability to use Zonai equipment. Once you unlock one, all characters will be able to use it at the same time.
