Gears of War: E-Day wants to scare players. The series returns to its horror roots – INDIAN

Microsoft has big plans for next year. As part of Xbox’s 25th anniversary, it intends to give players a continuation of its legendary brands. Among them there are prequel to Gears of Warwhich will likely be the darkest chapter since the original trilogy.

Jerry O’Flaherty, art director of the original Gears of War, recalled in an interview with FRVR that the first game was not conceived as a classic action shooter, but as a “horror with monsters”. “The first Gears game was designed from the start to be a horror game, with a dark color palette, tension and horror. Later it became more about monsters than fear of them.” he explained.

According to him, the original game was much closer to the film “Alien” than its more action-packed sequel, “Aliens.”. “It’s all about tension, the feeling of something lurking in the dark. I liked that aspect – the fear of what was around the next corner.” O’Flaherty added.

And it’s that spirit that’s set to return with Gears of War: E-Day. O’Flaherty said the project feels like a faithful return to what they were trying to create in the original work. While the developers are keeping story details under wraps, his enthusiasm suggests that E-Day won’t be afraid to capture the horror or violence that has always been present in the series.

At the same time, the creators of The Coalition openly say that E-Day should be a new beginning for the entire brand. – with a fresh look at the world of Gears, but with respect to the roots. “We want fans to relive the intense, nerve-wracking feeling they felt in the first game.” Studio representatives reported this.

Gears of War: E-Day is scheduled to release in 2026 on PC and Xbox Series X/S, including Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Localization of the Czech text has been confirmed.
