Rockstar on Thursday laid off 30 to 40 employees at its offices in the UK and Canada. All of them were either union members or tried to form unions at the company, Bloomberg reports. According to mother Take-Two Interactive the employees were “grossly mistaken.”

“Rockstar has just committed one of the most reckless and heartless anti-union actions in the history of the gaming industry. This blatant disregard for the law and the lives of workers who make billions is an insult to the fans and the entire industry,” he says. Alex MarshallBritish trade union president IVGB.

Take-Two Interactiveparent company Rockstar, the studio protects. A company spokesman says the dismissals were due to “serious misconduct, nothing more.” “We fully support Rockstar in its ambitions and approach,” he adds.

New unions do not usually face such strong resistance. Several large trade union groups have already been created at the American giant. Sega has been hostile to unions for years.
