Friday night was a sign Halo: Campaign Evolved announcementa complete remake of the first part of the famous sci-fi series from Microsoft. This will be the first Halo game to be released on a Sony PlayStation console.
According to developers Halo Studios, the remake has two goals. He’s the first keep the soul of the original title since 2001, but at the same time expand its capabilities using modern technologies and design approaches. The game runs on Unreal Engine 5.which delivers a whole new visual experience thanks to Lumen’s dynamic lighting – from the shiny armor of the Spartans to the stunning views of the Halo rings.
This time there is no multiplayer on purpose. As executive producer Damon Conn explained, the team is focused on the story campaign. “We want to bring back the atmosphere, tone and emotion that made the original Halo so special.” As a result, we offer the most authentic campaign in the history of the series, enriched three new prequel missionsthe ability to sprint and a number of small details that the original version did not allow.
Up to four players can participate in the campaign.not only locally, but also on different platforms. The maps and environments have been redesigned to accommodate more participants without losing the original rhythm and structure. Even the iconic Warthog has been upgraded with a new rear position, allowing it to carry the entire crew.
The remake will have the largest number of Skulls yet.that is, special modifiers that change the gameplay and increase difficulty and replayability. Players can expect dozens of new ways to customize their campaign, whether it’s for challenge or fun. Weapons and vehicles have been completely redesigned, and for the first time it will be possible to use the energy sword of a defeated Elite.
The decision to release Halo on PlayStation 5 caused strong emotions in the community. In an interview with the New York Times, Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty explained that Microsoft no longer sees console exclusivity as key to success:
“Our competitor is no longer just another console. Today we compete with TikTok, movies and the entire world of digital entertainment. We want people everywhere to experience our games.” – said Buti. The move follows the recent release of other former exclusives such as Forza Horizon 5 or Gears of War: Reloaded, which also hit competing platforms.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is scheduled to release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store). Additionally, the game will be available on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Czech subtitles have not yet been confirmed. The price and exact date have not yet been announced, but according to insiders, the project could serve as a springboard for a new live-service game from the world of Halo, which is being prepared by Microsoft.
