Former Assassin’s Creed series director Marc-Alexis Coté has resigned from his post at Ubisoft. Now it turns out that he did not do it voluntarily.
We recently informed you that now the former head of the series Assassin’s Creed joins from his position at Ubisoft. But now alone Marc-Alexis Cote reveals the circumstances of his departure. They say he wasn’t exactly thinking about leaving his longtime job. The company management allegedly asked him to resign.
The Assassin’s Creed series was supposed to be under the control of another management
Initially, he was supposed to be offered a leadership position in the new branch. Vantage Studioswho, within the new organizational structure of the company, will be responsible for the most famous series Assassin’s Creed. However, according to new information, Cote was supposed to take a much less important position than was announced.
“Many of you expressed surprise that I decided to leave Assassin’s Creed after all these years, especially when I still have a strong passion for it. The truth is simple: I did not make this decision. Ubisoft has decided to hand over leadership of the Assassin’s Creed series to someone closer to its new organizational structure. I was offered another position, but it did not have the same scope, mission, or continuation of the work assigned to me in recent years.” – says the former head of the Assassin’s Creed series
“I want to be clear – I don’t hold any grudges. Ubisoft has been my home throughout my professional life, and I will always be grateful for the people, the projects and the belief that together we can create worlds that inspire millions of people. But I also have a responsibility to say this to my teams, past and present, that I did not go alone. I stayed where I was until Ubisoft asked me to resign.” – adds Marc-Alexis Côté.
