Nintendo has reason to celebrate: Switch 2 was included in the magazine Tim between best inventions of 2025 in category Fun and games.
The award’s description highlights that it delivers faster performance without sacrificing portability – thanks to the Nvidia Tegra T239 chip with ray tracing and DLSS support, the gaming console can run at 4K resolution when docked, and in portable mode it can support flicker-free 1080p resolution at 120Hz.
Time also mentions that tickets sold out within the first four days of release. 3.5 million piecesmaking the Switch 2 the best-selling hardware in Nintendo history. He also reminds us that the new generation retains the best of the original concept – a gaming hybrid between a portable device and a TV – while also improving its technical parameters and smoothness.
This award isn’t just a marketing ploy – it confirms that Switch 2 has been able to not only build on the success of its predecessor, but at the same time raise the bar towards more technologically demanding gameplay.
