Eight years have passed since the release of the last part of the “External Blow” series this year. It was the fourth iteration for which the games in the Hungarian studio kite -games, which have long been focused on the strategies. The last name of this team was RTS Valliant in 2022, which introduced players in Europe of the 13th century. However, in July of this year, the studio announced the return of a sudden blow in the form of a full fifth episode.
Proven concept
The publisher’s position was again taken by the traditional German publishing house Kalypso Media, which showed the game on Gamescom in a playful way. Despite the fact that the game appeared directly in the exhibition of the Cologne exhibition center, we took the opportunity to try the title in the business of the fair and at the same time learn more information about the developers themselves.

Since the announcement of the game, it became obvious that the creators are betting on the proven concept of previous parts in the form of the RTS genre and the formation in the Second World War. In the past, it was a widely used plant, which, however, over the years slowly cleansed his position. A certain exception, at least, part of the strategies genre in which fans can continue to come to their senses.
As part of the Gamescom Dema, I could try three missions from the campaign of one player. In general, he will offer 25 missions that will be divided between the eastern and western fronts supplemented by the battlefield in North Africa. It is also connected with parties for which you can play.
In particular, these are allies (USA and UK), tips and Nazi Germany. Individual missions are based on the real battles of World War II, which means that you will look for, for example, in the Ardenenesian forests, Normandy or the cult bridge near Remgen.
Under the sign of freedom
The authors are also trying to cause the true experience of a realistic composition of units. In particular, a combination of infantry and tank units that are supplemented by other armored vehicles and the Air Force. Nevertheless, the authors also briefly showed more specific types of units in the form of landing vessels or paratroopers.
Before the start of the battle, the game will offer you a choice of three real generals with whom you can configure the initial composition of units and strategic direction. In practice, these are styles focused on offensive, defensive and tactical units. After the start of the battle itself, you will become mainly with a standard game content, which consists of the opening and subsequent set of important points on the map, which prevents the enemy side.
You can seduce collisions mainly about important objects with logistics.
You can seduce individual clashes using financially advanced objects, such as airports, station, bases, bridges or reserves and fuel warehouses. Within the framework of each mission, you will be instructed to raise one main point at which you will gradually overcome the production of strategically important points.
The developers showed that they are trying to offer the players maximum freedom, so you decide how you go to fulfill the main task. The main aspect of the successful completion of the mission is the gradual replenishment of units. Following the example of other strategies, you have a limited number of soldiers and technologies, the limit of which in the case of the fifth sudden blow is about two hundred.
There was a positive shift in the field of artificial intelligence.
However, from the losses in each clash, you cannot do without a reinforcement proposal that you can “buy” only for the successful compilation of enemy glasses. In addition to standard units, you can gradually access other types of units and functions during the battle. For example, the occupation of a strategically important railway station will allow you to send a train with a cargo of the tank to this place.
The cast of the airport for the change will open the ability to call the Air Force in action and, conversely, will prevent this type of units of the enemy side. In the combat clashes of the knowledge themselves about the strengths and weaknesses of specific units and tactics in maneuvering are crucial.
At the same time, it is worth using the environment, headed by wooded areas that can hide the infantry or elevated places that are ideal for artillery and tanks.
Honest Strategy from an old school
Compared to the previous episode, a sudden blow 5 brings a positive shift in the field of artificial intelligence. This is obvious in the efforts of opponents to hire your glasses or amazing attacks in the calm parts of the map.
As a result, the battle is dynamic, and you never know how their course will develop. In addition to an unexpected ambush, the hostile side may, on the other hand, may be abandoned military technologies or other accessories that can be captured during battles and save your own resources.
The playable demonstration of the new “External Blow” campaign convinced me that the developers are trying to create an honest strategy in the Second World War, which is mainly focusing on fans of previous episodes and genre veterans, which have not been enough in the games of a similar reduction in recent years.
On the other hand, the creators promise significant changes in the multi -user PVP field
Despite several new ideas, funny cards and improved artificial intelligence, do not expect a significant revolution that significantly overcame a series that some players could interpret for a long time as a slight disappointment. This optics, in addition, you can look at the graphic side of the game, which loses the third company of heroes in its current form.
On the other hand, the creators promise significant changes in the multi -user region of PVP, but I could not try Gamescom. Until now, we must wait for this statement, so we must wait. This will not be possible without successful multi -user components.
A sudden blow 5 will be released on a PC during 2026 and in parallel on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
