Zeldy updates bring significant improvements, but the main problem is not completely solved.
We have already examined the launch games from Nintendo for the Switch 2 console on the Internet in the articles, and also discussed the device itself. In the end, the Japanese company prepared something additional for release, and they pay up the next generation of the next generation of both main works “The Legend of Zelda”, which reached the original switch, “wildlife breathing” and “tears of the kingdom”. For example, they bring a certificate system that for some reason is connected to the application on a mobile phone, and is not directly in the game, but in this article we will focus primarily on the technical side. Is there enough updates, or would they like something else from the new console?
Visual improvements
At first, I would share a comparison of the introduction of wildlife breathing, where you can see most of the improvements, but, of course, we will consider them in more detail. The difference increased significantly, in particular from 900p to 1440p in the dock and from 720p to 1080p in a portable device, which can be known about the sharpness of the image. But the game also offers a more detailed environment and the best texture. Then this difference took care of the suppression of the pseudonym, but this is definitely not a victory on the full line, in any case later.
The situation in the tears of the kingdom is very similar, but the game on the original switch took place in 900p, but unlike Botw, it used dynamic resolution, and it should be said that its changes can really be known on the 4K monitor. In the new version for Switch 2, as in the case of BOTW, resolution of 1440p, which significantly increases sharpness. Again, the same input data is the environment about the environment and textures.
And in the event that we see how you can see in the video below that compares both versions of Botw, thanks to the improvements of Switch 2, the shape of the mountains at a distance is much brighter, and the textures are sharper, and the trees also look much better.
Another place to notice that improvement is a user interface. Although this may seem like a banality, look at the blurry text, and other elements of the user interface are not quite pleasant, so the update is very pleasant to at least 1440p. Monitor 4K is enough.
Perhaps the largest visual difference is the suppression of the pseudonym along the edges of certain objects, such as this wall in one of the shrine. This is almost such a blinking hell on the original switch, while on the switch 2 the image is much more cleaner, although not quite perfect.
Another comparison showing a significantly higher resolution, this time in the tears of the kingdom. Due to the larger number of pixels, the line is more detailed. Here we can also see a certain suppression of pseudonyms, but the situation is definitely not perfect.
This leads us to a slightly weaker part of the update, because improvements could not correct all diseases of the technical aspects of these games. For example, to compare Botw here, you can see that in the original version there was an incredible amount of flickering in vegetation, which I sincerely consider unacceptable in such a game. The reason is quite simple, Nintendo still does not use anti-aliament in his games, even in these large 3D plates, where it is now necessary. In combination with low resolution, this was a huge problem on the first switch.
An increase in resolution largely improves the situation, flicker is definitely not so pronounced. At the same time, however, it cannot be said that it has completely disappeared, the image can still be quite unstable, which can be seen both in a consumption mode and in a portable stage. I do not add any anti-alists, in my opinion, a big mistake, which both games are overly paid.
What I have to thank is a significant improvement in shadows, at least in Botw. While on the original switch they can be quite distributed and inaccurate, in the updated version they are much sharper. And unlike the original version, they do not break up in motion, although it is not perfect.
Unfortunately, shadows are associated with significant flicker, and this is very obvious in one of the discovery of the tears of the kingdom. On the original switching in this particular scene, from the number of shadows, almost all the image falls apart, and it does not look at all. In the Switch 2 version, this is much better, the shadows are much more stable, but not today, as I would imagine from the new version. Even for an “unprepared” eye, these problems are quite visible to me.
Loading time
So much to update the visual, but this is not the only aspect where the improvement occurred. The load time is faster, with my testing in the tears of the kingdom when loading Savu, about half are shot down, which is quite obvious. It should be added that this is a comparison of the Switche 2 internal storage and Microsd maps on the switch where I installed the games, but it offers the identical load time as an internal storage in the previous generation, unlike Switch 2, where the situation is different.
Although half the loading time is pleasant, I hoped for some best results. In the end, as I found back to test games, several names without any update managed to offer about a third of cases, sometimes even better. The load is fast enough to make you too much, but Switch 2 is able to achieve the best results.
Out of curiosity, I also checked the loads in the breath of wildlife, but where you should take into account one thing, I have an original game physically. At the first switching, the data is loaded exclusively from the cartridge, on the new console it is a combination of a cartridge and internal storage where the update data is stored – this is a little chaos. The result is only a little faster than the load.
The frequency of personnel
If it were all that the updates offered, probably there would be a significant disappointment, but the great advantage is still on the frame. While the original breathing of wild targets of 30 frames per second and in places this frame rate can be somewhat unstable, the new version contains absolutely stable 60 frames per second, which, of course, is a huge difference and great improvements.
And the same applies to the tears of the kingdom, just with the same difference that a newer game on the original switch continued even less stable than Botw, Frame Rat falls were quite common. However, thanks to the new version for Switch 2, it suddenly makes oscillations of 30 frames per second absolutely stable 60 frames per second without any decline.
Brief content
In general, I still have a little conflicting feelings about updates, mainly because Nintendo 10 dollars (for each game) want to improve Zelda. Many other games received free updates, and when we look at Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there are even greater improvements, even if you do not need to pay for them. Although this, of course, is caused by the fact that the foundation was not at all good.
The increase in permission is definitely known, as well as a higher degree of detail, the best texture, a higher load and, of course, the double frequency of frames. They are pleasant improvements, but to perfection, but mainly by the solution of constant settlement and flicker in both names. If you have not played Botw or Tick, new versions are certainly the best opportunity to finally enjoy both games. But I expect a little more from paid updates.
