The expansion of FSR 4 is presented, only for RX 9000

The new version uses machine learning, automatically replaces FSR 3.1 in games.

Yesterday, AMD introduced a new video card in the form of a series of RX 9000. However, unlike previous FSR iterations, everyone will not be able to use technology.

FSR 4 will be exclusive for the RX 9000 series, since it relies on new, improved computing units of AI, which will process the scaling. The version for older video cards is not yet excluded, but it would probably be worse, just like two versions of Xess from Intel (DP4A and XMX).

In any case, the new version of the FSR brings one great advantage, which is compatibility. He uses the same API as the FSR 3.1, and thus should be automatically available on the day of release in all names with support for FSR 3.1, without any additional integration. Thus, AMD is suitable for a model similar to NVIDIA, which has long been able to replace the older version of an increase with a new one (since DLSS 4 is even easier than before), without the need to set the game developers.

As for improvements, it is difficult to judge, because we have only photos and compressed videos from the presentation. In any case, AMD promises a significantly better image quality than FSR 3.1, and in some cases better than NATIVE 4K with TAA. We will see how technologies will be performed compared to the recently released DLSS 4.

Support NATIVE FSR 4 will receive more than 30 names on the day of release. Another 75+ will receive it within a year.

Finally, I will add that AMD also announced the new version of Fluid Motion Rames, in particular 2.1. We are talking about creating images at the level of drivers that can be used in almost any game, but due to larger artifacts than the frame of the frame integrated directly into the game. AMD for the new version promises a higher image quality and a decrease in ghosts.
