Sony’s ambitious plan to create live services is collapsing like a house of cards. Following the recent demise of Bluepoint Games (the makers of the Demon’s Souls remake) and Bend (the makers of Days Gone), he will now reportedly join the roster. Horizon MMOcreated jointly with a Korean studio NCSoft.
According to the Korean site MTN, three NCSoft projects have been stopped – Pantera, H (believed to be a Horizon MMO) and J. Despite these changes, the developers working on these games should not be fired, but transferred to other internal projects. Looks like NCSoft is having a hard time right now, they got laid off last year and now they need staff to get their act together and make some amazing games.
Rumors of a Horizon MMO, which would bring the rich world created by Guerrilla Games into a multiplayer environment, have been circulating for some time. The ambitious project is said to bring new opportunities to players in this iconic world. post-apocalyptic world full of mechanical machines on a larger scale.
But this project was never officially confirmed. But that’s for sure two years ago Sony and NCSoft entered into a partnership. The goal was to boost the Japanese video game giant’s ambitions in live-service gaming. The game was supposed to be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and smartphones/tablets. The preparation of the project was to be carried out by the Lineage division, and the development was headed by Hong-Yang Choi, who previously headed the development of Lineage W.
This cancellation should not affect Horizon Onlinecreated directly by Guerrilla Games.. Sony expects a lot from him. It will likely be a co-op action-adventure game. According to the job posting, he wants to bring over a million players with him. It was created along with a full-fledged continuation of the main series.
