Is streaming games to TVs and other devices the future of gaming? Microsoft’s latest advertising campaign is based on the fact that Xbox is not only a console, but also a computer, a smart TV, a mobile phone… Hand in hand with this strategy comes the news that the American company is working to improve the Xbox service Cloud Gaming.
The Redmon giant is believed to be planning Streaming games in 4K resolution, PC Game Support and other news, incl. expansion of game offerings beyond Game Pass. The service has also reached a new milestone in user numbers, and according to reports from Windows Central, the company is allocating more hardware resources to meet growing demand.
The plan should be as follows:
4K streaming and higher bit rates: Currently, Xbox Cloud Gaming supports a maximum resolution of 1080p at 60 frames per second (depending on your internet connection), but Microsoft plans to offer 4K streaming at higher bitrates.
PC Game Support: In addition to Xbox Game Pass games, the service will gradually add PC-only games.
Expanding game offerings beyond Game Pass: Microsoft plans to gradually include more games in the Game Pass catalog, including games that players purchased separately. 50 such games have already been added in November/November, and more will be added in regular updates.
Reports show that the service’s growth is particularly strong in regions with fewer Xbox Series X/S consoles, which encourages further development of the technology. Additionally, last year Xbox Cloud Gaming offered mouse and keyboard support for more PC games.
In addition, Microsoft is working on its own Xbox handheld, for which further improvements to the cloud service may be key, and a next-generation console.
