Service PlayStation Plus entered 2025 with a new line of games, but it disappointed many players. A number of users have complained on social media that the game selection is getting weaker every year and that PlayStation has not lived up to expectations.
January titles include Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Update And The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. Although these are familiar games at first glance, players rate the selection as “disappointing.” Suicide Squad met with a mixed reception and is ending support, the Need for Speed remaster is 15 years old, and The Stanley Parable, while a valuable game, is more of a niche gaming endeavor.
For comparison, last year’s January offer included games such as A Plague Tale: Requiem, Wicked West And Nobody saves the worldwhereas in previous years it was among the proposals, e.g. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order or Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. As such, this year’s list of games seems like a step backwards to many.
On forums like Reddit, players criticize: “The worst January in years” writes one of the users. But others defend the choice, saying it’s still a bonus for a service whose main purpose is to provide online games. PS Plus Extra and Premium are designed for more interesting games.
Fans are hoping that Sony will take the negative reviews seriously and come up with even more exciting deals in the coming months. However, since these agreements are often concluded long in advance, any changes will not be noticeable until several months later.
