Far Cry series it has undergone many changes since the first episode. But the latest works lacked a solid foundation; they dried up and “burnt out.” Ubisoft seems to understand this because they want the two new Far Cry games to be significantly better to attract players.

Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson says there are projects developed under the code names Blackbird and Maverick on the Snowdrop engine.and the previous ones were built on the Duniya engine. They work on both primarily at Ubisoft Montreal.

Blackbird is a complete storyin which the protagonist must save his family, who have been kidnapped by a conspiratorial cult that has been conducting hallucinogenic experiments on animals and children. To save the family, the player has 24 hours in real life(72 hours in game). The time limit will be monitored by the watch on your wrist. If you were looking forward to the speculation that he would play the main character Cillian MurphyTherefore, Henderson denied this information.

Maverick must be an evacuation shooter set in the Alaskan wilderness.where players fight for survival against each other, against animals and against harsh weather. Changing the engine should have allowed the developers to make significant progress not only in terms of graphics, but also in terms of the movement system (tactical running, sliding and climbing). According to Henderson, both projects have a lot in common, and that’s understandable. The exception is Maverick’s loot system, as it doesn’t make sense for a story-based game.

Inside the studio, Ubisoft Montreal and its support team are said to be optimistic about Blackbird, but there are concerns about how Maverick will fare. Lately we’ve seen that even interesting live service games have trouble achieving success in the long term. Ubisoft was convinced of this itself by releasing XDefiant. For this reason, the French publisher does not want to underestimate anything and should have given the creators more time. Both Far Cry games were originally scheduled to release in 2025, but have now been pushed back to 2026.
