The last time a Days Gone remaster was talked about was in previous months. He was first mentioned by journalist Jeff Grubb and then by VGC’s Jordan Middler. The first one said that the remaster was less exciting than Horizon Zero Dawn. Another recalled the irritation of Days Gone creative director John Garvin, who was outraged when protagonist Deacon St. as a robot he advertised the platformer Astro Bot.
The original version of Days Gone, released in 2019 on PS4, had a rocky start. The game was heavily criticized due to technical issues such as glitches, bugs, and inconsistent performance, which negatively impacted its reviewer ratings. Despite this, it has won the hearts of many players thanks to its fascinating storyline, characters and unique game world full of dangerous phreakers – enemy creatures similar to zombies.
Following release, Bend Studio set about fixing the game, improving its performance, and fixing most of the issues. The result was the gradual creation of a community of dedicated fans eager for more. Unfortunately, Sony announced that Days Gone 2 won’t releasewhich led to public discontent not only from fans, but also from some former team members.
John Garvin, the game’s former creative director, complained repeatedly (and sometimes still does) on social media about Sony’s approach to the project. According to him, the game suffered due to lack of support from the publisher, who preferred other brandsfor example, The Last of Us. When the sequel was officially cancelled, fans started writing petitions to prove they were still interested in the brand.
By the way, from 2022 it is being prepared movie “Days Gone”. This is despite the fact that Sony apparently has no plans to continue the game’s story. Instead of Days Gone 2, Ben Studio is making another one live service projectwhich is expected to be based on the open world technology of Days Gone.
