Studio Children’s games in collaboration with Eidos Montreal working hard to bring back the legendary series Fables. We could see the new part of the action-RPG in the trailers, but they didn’t tell us much. Now here’s the behind-the-scenes info. They note that the new Fable should be similar to the hit The Witcher from CD Projekt RED.. Be it a similar fight or using different swords and magic.
Insider and journalist Jez Corden from Windows Central had the opportunity to see the alpha version of the new Fable. According to him, the developers inspired the successful The Witcher 3. The combat system has similar features – smooth transitions between attacks, dodges, acrobatic elements and even executions. It’s not one to one, but there should be similarities.
It must be available wide selection of weapons, such as bows, arrows, spells and heavy weapons. What impressed Corden the most was a magical attack that lifted a group of enemies into the air and slammed them to the ground. This didn’t go away either humor – for example, an encounter with a “dangerously creepy chicken” suggests that the game does not forget the comedic elements known from previous games.
The game is said to boast fantastic visuals that have already been seen in the trailers. Corden emphasized that the world of Fable feels alive, detailed and “super polished” despite having seen footage from the alpha version. If a game looks great this early in development, we can expect the final version to be visually stunning.
According to the information leak, players will be able to choose between male and female characters. This is in line with current trends where the player has more freedom to create a protagonist. This should be taken with a grain of salt because even Corden wasn’t sure if this choice would actually be in the full version.
The emphasis should also be on telling a story that is both deep, moving and interesting. Overall a must play more mature tonebe it in terms of narrative or enemies.
“It looked really cool. I saw all kinds of weapons, including a hammer that could be swung and hit many enemies at once.” the journalist added. Corden is convinced that the Playground Games team includes former Witcher 3 developers. A combat designer is also welcome to join.
This all sounds very good, but when will we get it? The new Fable is expected in 2025 on PC and Xbox Series X/S, including Game Pass.
