Next to Firewalk, mobile team Neon Koi is also closing its doors.
Sony announced the closure of a couple of studios Fire Walk And Neon Koi. The first named team was behind the failed multiplayer event. Concord since August of this year, which did not even last three weeks online due to the catastrophic lack of player interest.
“Getting beyond PlayStation and creating engaging online experiences alongside our single-player games is key for us. (…) However, when launching games on new platforms, we need to be strategic and recognize when our games do not meet player expectations,” Sony writes.
Regarding Concord and Firewalk Studios, he adds: “After much consideration, we have decided that the best path forward is to permanently end the game and close the studio. (…) The PvP first-person shooter genre is a competitive environment that is constantly evolving, and we [Concordem] unfortunately, they did not achieve their goals. We will learn and continue to develop live service games.”
Company representatives thank the developers and write that they will try to find as many of them as possible another place in the company. This also applies to the Finnish-German mobile team Neon Koi, whose end is associated with the transformation of Sony’s mobile strategy. “To succeed in this area, we need to focus on games that live up to the PlayStation Studios tradition and have the potential to reach more players around the world.”
Concord was a historic failure for Sony. A title that should have set a record $400 milliononly sold 25,000 copies.
