Turnover in the Slovak gaming industry also fell last year

The Slovak gaming industry recorded last year’s record decrease by 9.2% to approximately 70 million eurosstates the analysis of the Slovak Game Developers Association (SGDA). By comparison, in the Czech Republic, where the number of students and employees is approximately twice as large, the turnover was about 300 million euros.

This is the second decline after significant increases in 2020 and 2021 caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, in 2022 this was only a small correction of 3.6%. There were also fewer game developers in Slovakia last year. 69 teams hired them 101763 less than a year earlier. There were 90 developers working from abroad, almost half of whom were Czechs; to a much lesser extent, Ukrainians, Poles or Russians also worked in the studios.

The vast majority of sales, almost 59 million, were generated by the top 10% of companies.
