Since it’s been two years since the Lovelace-branded RTX 40 series graphics cards were released, some customers are eagerly awaiting the announcement of new graphics from Nvidia. However, it looks like the two-year cycle the company has been on lately will be a little longer this time. There’s no indication yet that the announcement will happen this year, but we won’t wait too long.

We learned that Nvidia will take part in the traditional CES exhibition in Las Vegas, which takes place in early January, as reported by Videocardz magazine, for example. Not only will he be on the show floor, but he is also preparing his own presentation, which will take place on January 7 at 3:30 am CET. It will be helmed by company CEO Jensen Huang, and while we don’t know its contents yet, it has long been speculated that the event at which the cards will be unveiled will be CES.

First of all, these will probably be the top models RTX 5090 and RTX 5080. According to the famous insider kopite7kimi, they will differ in technical characteristics more than ever. While the 5090 is said to offer 21,760 CUDA cores and 32GB of VRAM with a 512-bit bus at a maximum power consumption of 600W, the 5080 is said to only have 10,752 CUDA cores (less than half), 16GB of VRAM and 256 -bit bus at TDP 400 W. The tallest model will likely look almost like another generation.

By the way, a presentation of video cards with RDNA 4 architecture from AMD is also expected soon, and this may also happen at CES. However, after much speculation, AMD itself has already confirmed that the next generation will skip the high-end entirely and focus on the mainstream and low-end segment, where the company does best in the long term.

And Intel is also preparing the release of a new generation, only the second, which should come along with the Battlemage series. They were released as integrated graphics under the designation Xe2 at the end of September as part of Lunar Lake processors for laptops with very low power consumption. We don’t know when exactly we’ll get the desktop versions.
