Hearts of Iron 4 features the German-focused Gotterdammerung expansion, which opens up a ton of new possibilities. But if you’re planning to follow the path trodden by history, this news may disappoint you. Paradox decided to avoid the word “Nazi” entirely. It doesn’t want to support Nazism per se, but that’s not the only justification the company makes for Germany-focused DLC.

The main reason for this is said to be that the Nazi Empire is not a foregone conclusion in the expansion of Gotterdammerung. Paradox commented: “Alternative political paths for Germany in the new expansion include new monarchy content, a restored democratic Germany, and alternative fascist militaristic paths. According to the developers, players can look forward to a new tree focused on national interests.” used to direct people against enemies of the state, as well as to gain access to missiles and the atomic bomb. Hearts of Iron 4: Gotterdammerung will be released on PC on November 14, 2024.
