Surveys are conducted almost constantly. Developers collect data about players in games, but that’s not all. Questions are being asked outside of virtual worlds as well, as recent research from Midia Research shows, focusing on player preferences. In recent years, it can be said that multiplayer games have become the most popular among fans of AAA games. However, this trend seems to be slowly but surely declining, although a significant portion of the gaming community still invests heavily in this segment.

However, according to published data, more than 58% of players prefer single-player games to those that require active cooperation or elimination of other players. If we look at gamers over 55, the preference for single-player experiences is even more pronounced, with up to 74% of respondents preferring single-player games. On the other hand, younger members of the community aged 20–24 prefer PvP games, with up to 43% of them playing.

Most respondents confirmed that they were “tempted” to play the often free demo version. The survey was conducted in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Poland, Turkey and South Africa. In theory, he could point to the reasons for the success of Last of Us, or Elden Ring, as well as factors associated with the fall of Concord, or other IPs focused primarily on multiplayer and long-term support.
