While the next generation of consoles is still a long way off, we’ll have a second round of information about the PlayStation 6 console in a few days. The first concerned the chip maker, which Reuters reported would once again be AMD, although Sony was also supposed to be in talks with Intel. However, it now appears that it won’t be one chip, but two different ones.

The new information comes from well-known hardware specialist KeplerL2, who shared his findings on the NeoGAF forum, as reported by Insider Gaming magazine. According to Kepler, Sony is preparing two SoCs (System-on-chip, i.e. a chip with a processor, graphics, memory, I/O, and everything else needed to work). But at the same time, he adds that he does not know whether this will be a portable console or whether Sony will use a strategy similar to Microsoft this generation – releasing one weaker and one more powerful console.

In any case, we will have to wait a few more years for both devices, the most common assumption is 2028. After all, Sony has “refreshed” this generation with a new model in the form of the PS5 Pro, which will go on sale on November 7. We looked at the improved model in previous articles.
