Version Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is approaching inexorably, and I had the privilege of playing the game early. However, instead of the classic code submission or remote play, Microsoft had a completely different experience in store for me. I was on a team to try out the game Xbox invited all the way to Arizona, specifically directly to Grand Canyon. I thank Xbox from the bottom of my heart for this trip, because this is the place I wanted to see most of all of America. Considering that we are preparing a video preview of the entire event, I would like to at least summarize the impressions of the trip as such.
The event itself started unexpectedly early. We stayed in a hotel with other editors from around the world. Squire Resort at the Grand Canyonwhich, as the name suggests, is really very close to the national park. We left straight for the canyon at 7:30 a.m., on a tour vehicle. Hummerwhich led us past several viewpoints on the upper edge of the slope. At first I had the feeling that it was actually a fairly normal forest, just a little drier, but I couldn’t help but wonder when the curtain of trees opened and I saw the majesty of this place for the first time. It literally just came out of me “What the hell”. My mind was just never made for that perspective. There are few places where you can suddenly see that much distance. Since there is a vertical cliff below you at the edges, which is over 1.5 km deep, you can really see a long way. I learned from the guides that in some places the fall can last almost twenty seconds, so jumping is highly discouraged. There is plenty of time to think about it during the flight, when there is little you can do about it.
