There has been quite a bit of discussion online about Digital Foundry’s findings regarding PS5 Pro versions of games. But it’s not just players who have gotten involved, sometimes even developers or other game studio employees have chimed in.

This is exactly what happened with last year’s survival horror Alan Wake 2, which, according to DF, will run on the PS5 Pro at an internal resolution of 864p (Performance mode) and 1260p (Quality mode) with an upscale to 4K. These numbers are similar to the original PS5 version, but some players found them a bit low. Remedy PR Director Thomas Puha responded to the situation.

“Image quality is more important than resolution, but I’m not making any claims,” It is said on the ResetEra forum. “We’ll be releasing some information about the PS5 Pro version of Alan Wake 2 in the coming weeks, along with accompanying materials. I think this version will be a pleasant surprise, but it’s hard to say right now.”

Of course, Pooh is hinting that it’s not so much the number itself that matters, but what players actually see on screen. And while the internal resolution will remain the same, the scaling technology will change from FSR to PSSR, which could solve many of the issues that plague the PS5 version’s visuals.

Of course, there are other games that could benefit greatly from the new technology. However, these are mostly third-party titles that were barely shown at last week’s presentation.

Finally, I’ll add that Alan Wake 2 will receive a physical release in October, at which time a second story expansion called The Lake House should also be released.
