The studio will remain under the wing of Embracer.
In March of this year, we informed you about the sale of the gaming division and the studio of the same name to Sabre Interactive, which Embracer Group abandoned due to financial problems. Sabre has been since then independent researchwhich released Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 a few days ago. In a short period of time, it managed to sell more than 2 million copies.
The original plan was for Saber to exercise an option to buy 4A Games, which is best known for the Metro series and is currently also under Embracer, after gaining independence. However, noted journalist Jason Schreier reported today via social media X that the planned redemption will not happen in the end.
Saber Interactive studio head Matt Karch himself spoke about this in an interview with Schreier. He stated that at the moment it would be better for all parties if 4A Games studio will remain part of Embracer. He did not specify what was behind the change in the situation. Ownership of the Metro brand itself, which Embracer did not want to give up, could have played a certain role.
