Sometimes games appear on the market that are not quite in keeping with the year of their release. They were able to bring something revolutionary, something so new that you could say they were ahead of their time. And these are the cases we will look at today.
“Will Crysis come out?” This phrase was heard by almost every gamer in 2007 and for many years after. It is not surprising that we start our list with the first part of this famous series. In the role of Nomad, a special forces soldier, we go to the island to join the conflict between the North Korean army and the United States. In terms of gameplay, we got our hands on a super nanosuit, which in itself was quite an interesting addition to the game. Even moving around fairly open locations and free access to solving missions or the artificial intelligence itself can be enough for the game to go down in gaming history.
But that wasn’t enough, because what the new CryEngine 2 could do at the time was incredible. Crysis brought unprecedented graphics at the time, with a stunning amount of detail. Crysis offered players realistic vegetation, dynamic lighting, advanced water effects, destruction physics, and other visual elements that set a new standard for video games. The game itself was so technologically advanced that it was difficult to run smoothly on the computers of the time at the highest graphics settings. Thus, Crysis became synonymous with benchmark gaming PCs. Man… the game still looks good today, almost 17 years later.
