Hopes for a return are minimal.
The beta shooter Concord had already shown that it would not be one of the strongest shooters on the market. The subsequent final version also did not bring anything that could really attract the attention of the public. Only 25,000 copies were sold. In short, Sony seemed to be betting on a “gaming” model, and besides, they wanted money for something that was missing from the gaming scene. Apparently, this move could not end in anything other than a disaster, which led to the fact that the developers from Firewalk Studios announced the end of their work a few days ago.
While other gaming projects take months to shut down, in this case Sony has realized its investment along with all its future plans, refunding customers on various platforms in a matter of days. The server shutdown happened yesterday on PC as well as on the PlayStation 5 console. The studio announced the move via Twitter, where, of course, there were many comments. While many were negative, there were also some players who were hoping for the return of this work, which, according to some, wanted to bring something new, but failed.
At this point, it’s unlikely that Concord will return. At least not in the mode currently on display. However, it’s possible that Sony will give Firewalk Studios a chance to give their game a makeover. However, given the overall lack of interest, it’s possible that there will be layoffs at the studio due to Concord’s failure.
