In a Facebook post today, Daniel Vavra revealed details about the size of the script for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Specifically, he revealed that the anticipated medieval RPG will consist of 11,000 typical pages of script, which is worth it. they exceed 2.2 million wordsFor comparison, this is the amount that would be enough for 25 book novels or 100 films.

“A hundred scenarios is actually quite suitable. One of our quests takes almost as long as a regular movie, and there are a lot of quests. If you take pure acting scenes (cut scenes) in the game, their length will be equal to three movies. But in the game, most of the dialogue is outside of these scenes, plus each character has so-called lucky ones, that is, such a conversation in the open world (greetings, shouts, conversations in the store, reactions to things in the world). …). And of course, there are clouds of texts around us – the main character’s diary, the codex, tutorials, hints … Enough. A person who can read quickly (300 words per minute), if he read eight hours a day, he would read this for 3 working weeks.” Vavra reveals the composition of the play’s texts.

It’s also interesting to compare it to other major RPGs. For example, the first Kingdom Come had a script of just over 1 million words. So the second part should offer something in that direction. more than twice as many texts.

Due to the scale of the scenario, it has been modified in recent years. especially Baldur’s Gate 3which contained about 2 million words, which is comparable to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The game from Larian studio entered the Guinness Book of Records as the game with the longest script to date thanks to this value. The upcoming new product from Warhorse can theoretically surpass the third Baldur’s Gate in this regard.

In the aforementioned post, Daniel Vavra also reported that the game’s script Almost two dozen people took part: “How many people wrote it? Almost twenty. What did I write? Probably understandably, only a small portion. Most of the main quests are based on my concept and plot outline, then we brainstorm together, then one of the designers writes it, and then as the ‘showrunner’ of the series, I read it all, edit it, and maybe rewrite it if I don’t like it.

100% of the cutscenes somehow passed through my hands. For example, last summer I edited almost 100% of all the dialogues of the main characters of the game, so that everything fit together, the characters behaved the same in quests and spoke the same. However, despite this, I still come across things in the game that I have never seen before, because it is simply impossible for one person to follow all this. But mostly they pleasantly surprise me.”

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be released on February 12 on PC (Steam) and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
