In July, we got a very cryptic teaser from Nintendo that turned out to be the third installment in the Famicom Detective Club visual novel/adventure series, the first two of which came out 35 years ago on the NES. With Emio’s release slowly approaching, Nintendo has a nice announcement to share.

He is preparing not one or two, but three tastings of this game for players. You will be able to try the prologue and the first chapter for free from August 20 at 3:00 AM CEST, the second chapter will be added from August 23, and finally the third chapter on August 28. A day later, the full version will be released, in which all progress from the demo will be transferred to you.

Let me remind you that in the game we will have to solve a murder case that is strikingly similar to the local urban legend of the “Laughing Man” known as Emio, as well as the real murder of an 18-year-old teenager, the culprit of which was never found. So is it the same killer, is someone trying to imitate him, or is there someone completely different behind all this? We will explore everything as the protagonist of the two original parts, as well as his colleague Ajumi Tachibana, who we will play for the first time.

Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club will be released on August 29 and will be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch. Interestingly, this is the first Nintendo internal game to be rated M, 18+ in our country. You can buy the title on Alza.cz.
