Yesterday there were doubts on the Internet that PlayStation 5 Pro will be released this year. Sony has yet to announce a more powerful model of its current console. The speculation was supported by a comment from well-known insider Tom Henderson and the fact that Grand Craft Auto VI has been moved from early 2025 to fall. In addition, the Japanese company will not release sequels to its main series until at least March 31, 2025.

Henderson has since taken a closer look at the matter, previously claiming that Sony plans to release the PS5 Pro in the second half of this year. That’s it probably nothing has changed. It depends on Sony’s request. According to him, all games released for PS5 after 09/15/2024 should also support PS5 Pro.

“Some sources are skeptical about the console releasing later this year, primarily due to the limited number of third-party games that will use its features. However, from a documentation standpoint (90-95% of my reports are sourced from documentation), there is no indication that the PS5 Pro has been delayed or cancelled.” Henderson said this in his article on Insider-Gaming.

But that doesn’t mean the PlayStation 5 Pro will launch on September 15. Consoles typically go on sale in November. This month, Sony has chosen the PS4, PS4 Pro, and PS5.

We remind you that according to unofficial information, the PS5 Pro Enhanced sticker can be used for games that match one of the following enhancements:

  • Higher target resolution in games that run at a fixed resolution on a standard console.
  • Increased target resolution for games that run at variable resolution on a standard console.
  • Increased the target frame rate for games using a fixed frame rate on the standard console.

Sony should be taking the best experience possible with the PS5 Pro, with a focus on improved ray tracing capabilities and their use. PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (also DLSS for consoles) to achieve higher resolutions or frame rates using artificial intelligence. The update should be easy for developers, just like with the PS4 Pro. Sony will require developers to use a special graphics mode with resolution scaling to 4K using PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR for short). In addition, it must achieve a stable 60 frames per second and have added or improved ray tracing effects.
