Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio are set to return

Sega is getting ready the return of the cult series Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio. According to Bloomberg, these are large-scale projects that should restart both brands and succeed worldwide.

Interestingly, the return of Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio should be in line with previously announced Super Games Initiative. Sega cites Epic Games’ battle royale hit Fortnite as an example of its success. For this reason, games should be free-to-play, available on a range of platforms, have multiplayer, and have various items and events to support spending on microtransactions.

In terms of release, both projects don’t have an exact timeline and, given the length of development, could still be cancelled. But if all goes well, the return of Crazy Taxi should take place in 2024 or 2025. Crazy arcade racing has been in development for years.

The question is how the creators will deal with the restart. Arcade racing and crazy roller skating can be turned into multiplayer games. Just so Sega doesn’t push the saw too hard and try to graft microtransactions and NFTs into the smallest part.
