Ubisoft understands big games don’t have to be better

The earth shook. Ubisoft realized that more doesn’t mean better. Maybe the pointless hunt for huge game worlds filled with repetitive content will finally end. But we probably also want this when French society prepares scalar technologythis will allow you to create more and more worlds.

The worlds in the latest episodes of Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry are so vast that many players criticize. Perhaps that’s why Patrick Bach, CEO of Ubisoft Stockholm, also touched on this topic.

Bach is the leader of the Scalar project and does not believe that games should grow every time. At the same time, he believes that some titles can be useful. In an interview with Games Industry, he explained that Scalar’s technology will enable developers to build bigger games, but he doesn’t see the context in which bigger is better:

“Do we need games to be bigger? No. Do some titles benefit from being bigger? Definitely. It all depends on the game, its goals and the intentions of the developers.”

“No element of the game should follow the ‘more is better’ formula. We talk about technology and they don’t tell us what games to make. However, some of them will certainly benefit from a larger scale and more detail.” Bach added.

He also denied in an interview that Ubisoft planned to license its new cloud technology to other companies. Teams from Malmö, Helsinki, Bucharest and Kyiv are working on the project.
