Last January, we reported on the creation of a new studio called Maverick Games. Its main forms former developers of Playground Games studio, which is best known for the successful Forza Horizon series. One of the key people is, for example, Mike Brown, who served as creative director of four parts of the aforementioned racing series. Joining Brown at the new studio are executive producer Tom Butcher, technical director Matt Craven, technical and art director Gareth Harwood, audio director Fraser Stachan and art director Ben Penrose.
Today we learned from a press release that the Maverick Games studio has signed a contract with the publisher Amazon Games. The result of cooperation should be AAA racing game with an open world and storyline., which will be released on PC, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. So the developers will continue the genre with which they celebrated success, under the banner of Playground Games. However, it is worth noting the emphasis on story, which is often neglected or not offered at all in racing games. Certain exceptions are some parts of the Need for Sped series or the old Driver San Francisco, which has been waiting for a sequel for over a decade.
