Free shooter Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland will not arise. The game was announced three years ago, but Ubisoft announced its cancellation this evening.
“After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cease development of Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland immediately.” the company said.
Top priority now support for Red Storm Entertainment studio members. They will be redistributed to other projects within the company, incl. XDefiant And Rainbow Six Siege.
According to them, Ubisoft decided selective investing and The Division Heartland fell victim to this new strategy.
The Heartland Division was to become free multiplayer survival shooter The story takes place in the fictional rural town of Silver Creek in the American Midwest, reduced to ruins by the spread of the Dollar Flu. It is now an inhospitable area filled with deadly infestation, roaming hordes of enemies, and the threat of disease and dehydration. The game had to offer PvPvE battle (against the artificial intelligence of other players). Details can be read here.
What’s next for The Division series? The Swedish studio Massive is preparing a third large volume. However, this is very far away. Last year the team completed Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and this year they are preparing Star Wars Outlaws.
