A number of gaming events take place around the world, some of which you can visit in the Czech Republic. One of the biggest is undoubtedly Game Access, which takes place at the Brno Exhibition Center (a report from last year can be found here). It will not remain this year either: the event will be held for the seventh time, namely on May 31 and June 1. Game Access is primarily aimed at people in the industry, but the general public can also access it.
The conference brings together dozens of developers from the Czech Republic and abroad who will share interesting information during lectures and discussions. Big names include famed game designer Warren Spector, who pioneered the System Shock and Deus Ex series, as well as Housemarque creative director Harry Krueger, who you may know mainly from the action roguelike Returnal. , screenwriter Jill Murray, who took part in the creation of Shadow of The Tomb Raider or several parts of the Assassin’s Creed series, and composer Petri Alanko, who has worked with the Remedy studio for a long time and wrote the soundtrack for Control. , Quantum Break and, of course, both parts of Alan Wake will also be present.
In addition to the lectures themselves, you will be able to try out dozens of small games that will be shown on site by independent creators, and the best of them will then be judged as part of the Indie Awards. In doing so, you will also be able to establish contact with the developers themselves. There will be no shortage of Czech gaming companies in the area who will be looking to recruit new employees.
After the end of the event itself, two more concerts with game music will take place. The first, on Saturday 1 June, will be performed by the Brno Philharmonic and will feature songs from Czech plays such as “Mafia”, “Last Train Home” and “Someday You’ll Come Back”. On June 2, the Polish band Percival will come to Brno to play famous tunes from the game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
