Czech developer Kristof Knesl has been working for several years. preparing a first-person thriller called Radiosvet. In a recently published interview with Spite.cz magazine, the game’s author revealed several interesting details. We learned, for example, that he actually works alone on the entire project, with the exception of occasional assistance from graphic artists and musicians. The developer has also been open about his inspiration. In particular, he noted the adventure game Firewatch and the Alan Wake series.
“Both games inspired me in terms of the overall atmosphere and some of the mechanics. In the case of Alan Wake, it was also the general setting and a certain style of storytelling. However, this is just the inspiration that allowed the creation of this project and gave it something attractive to fans of these games. Radiolight now evolves independently from these inspirations.” Knessl reports.
The author described the comparison with the aforementioned Firewatch as follows: “The main similarity, aside from the forest action, is definitely the mechanics of the walkie-talkie and the reporting of objects. So the difference is throughout the rest of the game. Whether it’s a supernatural thriller, radio mechanics or a general horror atmosphere.”
The game runs on Unreal Engine 4, but in the future a transition to Unreal Engine 5 is not excluded. Next, the author highlights the size of the game world in which the player is located. looking out over Ashwood Creek State Park and the surrounding city. It is also worth noting the presence of Czech localization in the form of subtitles and the publication of an approximate release date, which is approximately for the first half of next year.
Radiolight is currently PC (Steam) only. However, the developer does not rule out the release of the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles in the future. The full version of the interview can be read directly on the Spite.cz website.
