In December 2022, developers from the Striking Distance studio presented players with the horror game The Callisto Protocol. The game, which was considered a spiritual successor to the Dead Space series prior to its release, ultimately received mixed reception from players and reviews. In addition, the game did not meet the sales expectations of South Korean publisher Krafton. Even its founder Glen Schofield left the studio after the game failed. Despite this disappointment, Stringing Distance returns to the stage with a new namewhich has the working title Birdseye Project.
In terms of genre, it is a fast-paced roguelike modeled after The Callisto Protocol, set in Black Iron Prison. However, the developers draw attention to the fact that in terms of scale and cost of production this much smaller project, which the studio’s small team began working on last year. According to the authors, with this side project they want to expand the future punk world of The Callisto Protocol and offer an easy to learn and fun roguelike in terms of gameplay.
According to studio representatives, this should not affect the development of this minor game. I’m working on another AAA game. Since the Birdseye project is in its early stages of development, we currently do not know a release date or a list of platforms the game will be targeted at. In any case, you can watch a preview of the premiere above.
