After the leak of characteristics PlayStation 5 Pro Additional information regarding the capabilities of the technology comes into play. PlayStation Spectral Super Resolutionwhich should provide smooth gaming at the correct resolution.
The previous information is confirmed. Sony strives for resolution 4K at 60 fps. Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson reportedly has access to an internal document in which the Japanese company compares two unspecified games.
In the first game, the standard PS5 reaches 1080p@60fps in Performance mode, followed by 1800p@30fps in Fidelity mode. On PS5 Pro it should be 1440p at 60fps thanks to PSSR (short for the aforementioned technology). The goal was image quality similar to Fidelity mode (1800p) but at 60 frames.
The second game on PS5 reaches 60 frames without ray tracing, and on PlayStation 5 Pro it should achieve the same result, but with ray tracing enabled.
In the future, Sony is aiming even higher with PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution technology and wants to push boundaries unattainable with current hardware, i.e. gaming at 4K @ 120fps and 8K @ 60fps. However, the system currently needs to support 3840×2160 resolution, and its target is 4K and 60fps, as well as 8K and 30fps.
The PlayStation 5 Pro is due out this fall and will feature a removable Blu-ray drive like the PS5 Slim to ensure competitiveness of consoles. The SSD should still have a capacity of 1TB. Most likely, Sony will release PS5 Pro as a professional console Grand Craft Auto VI.
