Layoffs in the video game industry bring veterans from id Software, Naughty Dog and Activision to a new studio Empty vessel, where together they want to create an exciting, high-budget, high-quality shooter. It is created in Unreal Engine 5 and should be defined based on traditional business models.
In the trailer, Emptyvessel presents their first project as System. The shooter is inspired by films, graphic novels and games set in dystopian sci-fi worlds. Previously, the developers worked on the Quake series, Call of Duty, The Last of Us, Borderlands, Tomb Raider, Uncharted and The Callisto Protocol.
Emptyvessel is managed by CEOs Emanuel Palalich And Garrett Young, who previously held the same position at id Software. A famous Doom series composer is working with the team. Mick Gordon and as an advisor Riley RussellExecutive Vice President of Kojima Productions.
Based in Austin, Texas, members of Emptyvessel want to take risks and create new, refreshing forms of entertainment. He believes that even a small team can create a big and complex game. I hope it doesn’t turn out like the disastrous Immortals of Aveum from a former Call of Duty author.
