This morning we have very plausible assumptions about the upcoming announcement and release of the STALKER: Legends of the Zone trilogy project, and therefore console ports of games. STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, STALKER: Clear Sky And S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat. And now, thanks to the live broadcast of the Xbox Partner Preview event, we can once again say that speculation has turned into reality. We just didn’t expect that a collection of iconic genre hybrids that had until now only been available on PC would be announced and released at the same time. Yes, You can now buy it digitally and play it on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.. The collection can be played on current generation consoles thanks to backward compatibility.
As leaked screenshots from the PS4 version revealed this morning, this is actually a port of all three games, not a remaster or remake. And in addition to the more or less original creators from the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World (which closed in 2012, only to restart with a new lineup a few years later), Mataboo studio is signed under it. Meanwhile, GSC is reportedly busy with a second installment called STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl, so it looks like most of the work seems to have been done by the Mataboo team.
