Yuzu Emulator Ends, Developers Pay Nintendo $2.4 Million

Nintendo settled with developers after filing a lawsuit Yuzuemulator Nintendo Switch, for an out-of-court settlement. Team Tropical haze will satisfy the Japanese company on all counts. The emulator is being completed and its authors will pay Nintendo $2.4 million.

“Piracy was never our intention and we believe that piracy of video games and game consoles should come to an end. As of today, we are decommissioning our code, disabling Patreon accounts and Discord servers, and shutting down the website soon,” wrote the emulator’s lead developer, Bunnei.

In favor of Nintendo, Tropic Haze is ditching the yuzu-emu.org domain and, in addition to online code and tools, will also get rid of any physical development devices and modded Nintendo Switch consoles.

Along with Yuzu, the Nintendo 3DS emulator ends. Zither, another Tropic Haze program. The settlement has not yet been confirmed by the court, although Yuzu has already taken a number of promised steps.
