Studio FromSoftware bought the rights to the brand Elden Ring from the hands of the publisher Bandai Namco. This is evidenced by a document from the US Patent Office, according to which the transfer of ownership occurred back in March 2023. The team of the Japanese holding Kadokawa Corporation is apparently moving towards self-publishing.
This is a significant step for the team, as the Demon’s Souls and Blooborne brands are owned by Sony, while Dark Souls is owned by Bandai Namco. Armored Core, on the other hand, is owned by FromSoftware. The studio is moving closer to its own global publishing house, which it announced a long time ago and which should have been helped by significant investment from outside Tencent And Sony.
