We were able to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for the first time on February 10, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Within a year, the game was released on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. In total, more than 22 million copies were sold, making Hogwarts Legacy the best-selling book of the year.. In second place is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which sold 20.28 million copies.
In 2023, players spent a total of 740 million hours playing Hogwarts Legacy, with 51 million of those hours spent flying on broomsticks. 425 million Merlin puzzles were solved, 877 million potions were brewed, and 1.38 billion plants were grown. The battle statistics are also interesting: 5.25 billion wizards were defeated, 5.30 billion spiders and 375 million trolls were destroyed. On top of all this, there were 783 million covert attacks.
30% of players chose their college Slytherin. Just a percentage less than Gryffindor. 24%, then Hufflepuff and 17%, then Ravenclaw.
At Warner Bros. they are planning even more magical games. The second part has not yet been confirmed, but it can most likely be expected. Instead, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions was announced as a free-to-play game.
