The assumptions were confirmed: as part of the State of Play, we saw a presentation of a new game from the “Metro” series based on the books of the Russian writer Dmitry Glukhovsky. However, instead of a full-fledged sequel, this is a prequel, which is also intended for virtual reality and created by Vertigo Games.
The new game is subtitled “Awakening” and, according to details from the PlayStation blog, it will take us to 2028, where we will search the dungeons for the wife of Dr. Serdar, the protagonist we will play as. This is a completely new story, behind which is the already mentioned Glukhovsky, the author of the entire series.
The game should offer elements of survival, stealth, a strong story, as well as combat. It promises support for Sense controllers, but in addition to PSVR2, it’s also targeting Steam VR and Meta Quest 2 and 3, which will arrive later this year.
However, this is not the only Metro series project currently in development. Studio 4A Games, which is responsible for the main trilogy, is creating a new part. But we don’t know any details yet.
