The reason is primarily complications associated with the war in Ukraine.

Frogwares, a studio you may know mostly for its adaptations of Sherlock Holmes video games and other adventure games, is still hard at work on continuing its own (if largely Lovecraft-inspired) brand of The Sinking City, this time a full-fledged survival horror. Initially, the game was supposed to be released this year, but now the developers have announced that they will not be able to keep their promise.

In a short message on the official website and on social networks, the creators state that the game will be released no earlier than next year, or rather in the first half of it. The reason is largely due to complications associated with the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, with developers specifically citing frequent drone and missile attacks, power outages, and the need to constantly adapt to unstable conditions. At the same time, they want to use the extra time to get the best Survival Horror experience.

To make the wait even more enjoyable for fans, Frogwares has also released some new screenshots that show off the characters as well as the outdoor and indoor spaces, creating the atmosphere the developers are aiming for. You can see them above.

The Sinking City 2 will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
