A Ubisoft executive recently said that gamers “must” accept that they don’t own games. The author of one of the most striking games of last year decided to respond to this controversial statement. Sven Vincke The authors of Baldur’s Gate 3 opposed this theory: “Whatever the future of gaming, content will always come first. But getting good content will be much more difficult if subscription becomes the dominant model and a select group decides what goes to market and what doesn’t. Direct access from developers to players is the way to go.

Of course, his idea didn’t end there, and he elaborated on it in his post on Network X. In the very conclusion, he also mentioned that Baldur’s Gate 3 will never appear on any such service. Sven Vincke is undoubtedly right about several things. However, for some players and developers, subscription represents an interesting option.
