Old Gods of Asgard (Poets of the Fall) will perform at The Game Awards this year

Survival Horror Alan Wake 2 received the most nominations (8) at this year’s The Game Awards, along with Baldur’s Gate 3, including a top nomination for game of the year. And although participation in the main category means that during the announcement, part of the selected composition will traditionally be performed by the orchestra, many fans wanted us to see a separate performance.

AW2 is unique in that the soundtrack is almost entirely custom-made and largely reflects the events of the game. On the one hand, through the songs at the end of the chapter, which featured a number of Finnish and international artists, as well as several new songs by the group Poets of the Fall (respectively Old Gods of Asgard, under this name they are included directly in the Remedy Connected Universe).

Remedy has been collaborating with the Finnish group for a long time, for the first time it was in the game Max Payne 2, where the song Late Goodbye was performed. They subsequently appeared (as the Old Gods of Asgard) in Alan Wake, including the spin-off American Nightmare, Control, as well as Alan Wake 2.

Today we they found out, that fans’ wishes will come true and Old Gods of Asgard (actually as this fictional band, not Poets of the Fall) will perform at The Game Awards. In any case, we don’t know yet what song will be played. This may be an older piece, but probably the most suggested is something from Alan Wake 2, where Old Gods has a total of three songs: Anger’s Remorse, Dark Ocean Summoning and probably most famously Herald of Darkness, which is part of the most popular passage from the entire game. On the other hand, it’s very long (the full version is over 13 minutes long), so unless there’s an edited version, we probably won’t be able to wait for it.

The Game Awards ceremony will begin on Friday at 1:30 CET.
