This was originally from a multiplatform game. Star Blade became exclusive to PlayStation 5. But now we learn that Shift Up studio has established a close collaboration with Sony and has become a third-party team.
Shift Up remains an independent company. Thus, it is not an in-house development team directly reporting to PlayStation Studios (Insomniac Games, Naughty Dog, Guerrilla Games…), but also a third party company. Stellar Blade can be considered a de facto PlayStation product, with Sony in control and making sure the adventure RPG becomes a worldwide hit. Personally, I expect Sony to buy Shift Up if Stellar Blade is a success.
When the game was announced in 2019, it was called Project Eve and was planned for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. In September 2021, the game was revealed again, this time under the name Stellar Blade and as a PS5 exclusive.
