The calm of the weekend was broken by Naughty Dog studio, which presented The Last of Us Update Part 2″. The announcement was met with criticism from players that developers should be working on a new game rather than always using previous ones. As it turned out, so the core team is really focused on another project.
According to VGC editor Jordan Middler, new staff members are working on The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered to familiarize themselves with the studio’s procedures and get a feel for things. Neil Druckmann and the other experienced folks at Naughty Dog are focused on the bigger game. There were previously rumors about a new brand, as well as about the third part of The Last of Us, but none of them have been confirmed yet.
One thing is for sure. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered for PlayStation 5 will be released on January 19, 2024 and will be the first game from Sony in the coming year. Let’s hope Sony has more in store for 2024. Another candidate – Marvel’s Wolverinealthough 2025 is more often mentioned.
From what one person told me, it was more of a project for new employees to get them into the game. Druckmann’s team is working hard on the original. One does not take away from the other, afaik
