Microsoft has joined forces with the company Internal AI. Together they will create tools that will allow Xbox developers to use artificial intelligence for dialogue and stories in games.
Artificial intelligence is based on instructions create scenarios, dialogue trees and tasks. Microsoft also wants to have a character AI engine capable of dynamically generating stories, tasks and dialogue. Developers decide how they will use these tools. Everything will be optional.
This new feature will be based on the Inworld character engine, which was used to create the Sentient Streets story mod for Grand Theft Auto V before Take-Two banned it.
“We want to make it easier for developers to realize their vision, try new things, push the boundaries of modern games and experiment to improve gameplay, connect with players, and more.” said Haiyang Zhang, general manager of gaming AI at Xbox.
Artificial intelligence to facilitate game development should have the same capabilities as Windows Copilot or Bing Chat. To some extent, something similar is already being used by the authors of Assassin’s Creed from Ubisoft.
