Longtime executive Connie Booth leaves Sony

Sony confirmed the departure of the head of internal production Connie Booth, who worked for the company for 34 long years. The producer and vice president oversaw the development of games from such series as Ratchet & Clank, Marvel’s Spider-Man, The Last of Us, and previously Uncharted or Siphon Filter.

The developer had already talked about the end of Connie Booth a few days before. David Jaffe. He initially received information from sources inside Sony and then outside the company. According to Jaffe, Booth should have been fired along with most of her team. The studios must have been dissatisfied with the order to work on the live service of games, and Booth also had to be responsible for the problems of The Last of Us multiplayer. “Nobody understands how this could be Connie’s fault,” Yaffe says.

While the producer has not yet responded, Sony provided Axios with a brief statement: “[Connie Booth] she helped make PlayStation Studios the success it is today, and her enthusiasm for creating an environment in which the team’s creative vision could fully flourish has had a positive influence on many game developers. We are grateful for her contribution to the development of the company and wish her good luck in her future endeavors.”

Connie Booth she has worked at Sony since 1989. In the 1990s, she worked her way up to become a producer and then vice president of the company, where she has been for the past 11 years. In 2020, she was inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame.
